Hey guys, well i finally picked up a rust free cab for my 89. Going to get it tomorrow. Never done a cab swap before, any little tidbits of info i should know about before starting this job? Thanks for any help!
Ive never done one either, but i have plans to do one this summer. Things i have thought of, is use lots of wd-40 (pb blaster, fluid film whatever is your choice) on the bolts, and when i do my swap, im gonna completely rust proof the bottom of my cab, so I hopefully never have to worry about it again.
Take lots of pics so you wont forget where stuff goes, label as much as you can, and you should be fine!
Make sure ya update us too, I for one would be interested in seeing how you made out with this project, and how hard you found it to be and whatnot.
Well so far so good. Got most of the interior out, couldnt get the bottom bolts for the seatbelts out, so ive still got a couple panels in, but otherwise its on to the dash! Easy parts over. Took lots of pics, ill put them up later
I know with mine i didn't have to seat belt bolts and such. All I had for bolting was fenders to cab and 4 cab bolts from cab to frame. There was the wiring and random linkages to..... but that was the little stuff
Suppose i should explain... The cab i bought is red w/ red interior trim. Im going to be painting the truck blue again soon as i get the $$$, and i want the blue interior pieces. Would look WAY too crappy, have a blue truck w/ red interior.
