nice, now I just need to find a yard somewhere back on the east coast that has trucks that big. I doubt I'll find anything In a yard out here in AZ, they all suck.
As long as were discussing "interchangeable" My doors on my 81 F100 are gonna need alot of work. I might just look around the junkyard for some that need less. What years forwrd or back will interchange? Also door panels? and will bronco doors work? Thanking everyone in advance
Boy! I really opened a can of worms here! But I appreciate all the feedback. I have two of these trucks, an 84 F-150 4X4, and an 81 F-150 2-wheel. They both need dash pads and door panels. (among other things)
The whole cab is not the same. There are vast differences. Mostly with the floor pan, and firewall.
When I had to replace door glass and a vent window in an F700,I noticed that the Headlamp dimmer switch on the floor is moved farther away from the side of the cab,and closer to the pedals.I also noticed that the Steering column had a shift indicator on it,instead of in the cluster. And everything else you mentioned that won't fit was there. If i'm thinking correct, the window cranks changed in 87 to the black style, just like the smaller light duty F-Series.
Does anyone know where you can buy a new actual dash pad for 80'-86' F series? I've seen lots of dash pad covers, but no actual dash pads.
However, I was looking at a 96' F-650 the other day, and the dash pad looks identical to the 80'-86' units. Has anyone tried one of these to see if they will fit?
Pep-boy's you can order them even with you name on them for less then $100

Door interchange is all F-series and Bronco, 1980-1996 as well as 1997 F250HD and heavier models.
FYI....Years ago...Hot Rod magazine did an article about changing colors on vinyl using....SHOE DYE....I dyed the black dash in my 66 Ford shortbed....bright red......and it survived great in the Florida sun for 10 years...jv

Yes the window cranks, and inside door handles changed to black plastic in 1987.
The reason for the headlamp dimmer being farther away if you noticed, is because the floor pan is higher and more rounded due to the "wheel wells" in the floor. This is for room for the larger truck tires and wheels used. This makes the kick panels different as well.
The steering column is different and at a higher angle than the pickups, this is why the instrument cluster bezel won't work on the pickups. The steering wheel is also vastly larger, and wont fit either.
