I just installed the wicked wheel today and when I got done I started my truck to let it run. I gave it a couple revs and noticed black smoke coming out from under the hood. I am alone so I cant have anyone rev it up for me. I have to resolve this issue tonight. Any Ideas??? I took the turbo completely off so could it be the clamp on the backside of the turbo????
Sounds like either the Baby-butt clamp, or the down-pipe clamp. Make sure you have the pin to turbo right on the BB. It's easy to not line up the BB with the turbo.
I have a WW on the way. Is it my understanding that its a little tougher task, but less chance of problems putting things back together if you do the install w/o taking the turbo off?

See the pin in Ron's picture? As long as you understand the pin has to go back into the hole on the turbo flange, then removing the turbo isn't that big a deal. It's when you forget about the pin that the problems show up.
Just leave the turbo bolts slightly loose. Wiggle it onto the tit on the collector, tighten the V-clamp, then tighten the turbo bolts. I couldn't get mine lined up until I loosened those bolts a bit. One word for turbo work: "Air Tools". Okay, TWO words...
yeah thats the go joe,
i did the same thing had smoke coming out then found the pin wasnt in so decided to give it some light taps with you know what and cracked the BB. glad theres a american spare parts dealer down the road. he had a second hand one there. second time round just left the bolts loose like you said and it went together a peice of ****...
