It has been indicated to me that Ford did not supply the most accurite set on gauges in the instrument cluster. My questions are; Is there an aftermarket cluster that has a better set of gauges. Or should I just add another cluster of gauges that would fit remote from the cluster. I would prefer it to look more stock that the addition of gauges. Also what gauges do most members add that are not on the cluster.
It is true that Ford gauges suck. Glorified idiot lights.
I don't think we will see replacement clusters any time soon, particularly as the electronics get more and more complex.
If we are talking about a Superduty, the good news is that the Ford sensors are pretty good, with the exception of the oil pressure sender. So with the correct monitor, you can get good values out of the PCM.
I don't care for add-on gauge clusters either. An electronic monitor that plugs into the OBD port is a good way to go.

you could put in one of those 4 place pillar gauge set.
I just looked at your profile and if you are driving/inquiring about the 6.0 diesel I think you can use the Edge Insight, I do on my 6.4 and it's a great unit.
They also have a 5.4 liter application but it is a programmer too. The diesel unit is not a programmer, just a display.
I think it's relative. The stock cluster is accurate enough for people who don't get into the performance aspect. For the performance side, I would use quality sensors with quality gauges, installed without kinks or voltage drops. Somewhere in between is a nice place for all but the hardcore/tuners. The stock cluster isn't bad for being between an idiot light and the middle ground. Don't be fooled that because they aren't graduated that they aren't accurate, they just aren't marked.
