just purchased an 02 f350 dually and just purchased a tuner that will give up to 120 hp is it ok to run the highest setting of 120 hp with no other mods or will the egt get to high
If you can monitor EGT's, then you can control the pedal and run any tune you want. But if you load a high hp tune and run without an EGT gauge, then you are playing with fire.
Without other mods such as an intake or exhaust, you can count on EGT's climbing very fast. Doesn't mean you can't control it, but it does make life harder.

If you have a nice open 4"+ exhaust and a good intake, you'd be hard pressed to get an empty truck into a dangerous range unless you stand on it over 100 MPH. When I had my stock turbo, it would spike very quickly over 1500* at those speeds. Other than that, it was always under 1300. If you don't have an opened up exhaust/intake, be very careful, even with an empty truck. You still need gauges though. You CAN do some serious damage if you get too crazy...

Congrats on the new truck. Just an FYI, the 120 tune won't really give you an extra 120 hp, but that's marketing for you.
You must have to be a member there to see the pics, lets try this:
Again, that is not my photo, I found it on another site and I'm just sharing
That's what a Bully Dog 120hp tune does to a stock truck when you don't have any gauges to monitor things.
