Number dummy I'm sure has saved countless members countless bucks especially on the older forums where guys are looking for obsolete parts, he has a way of telling if any dealer anywhere has any unsold parts stashed. He also who bought up the oem parts too.
Going by numberdummys points 2311i it must take 200 points for the green and you probably have too use the first 2 hundred for the one given to you so I will never get 2 green lights. lol
If joes count went up 10 does that mean if it is a good post we can somehow give more than one.

100 points gets you another greenie...for a while, then it takes 150 to get more.
I've had 11 greenies since I passed 1650. Supposedly, that all one can get.
Points given by others: I got one from Joe because he has a low rep count. He got 10 from me because of my higher total.
There was a (now former) member here on FTE who had over 51,000 posts, 11 greenies.
He had given out a total of 45 points to others...the entire time he was here.
I've been stuck on one bar forever. I guess I need to be a little more smart and a little less smart a$$

Diddo. But after all we are only in the IDI diesel crowd. Move up to the powerstroke forums and the rep points relative to post count seems to be higher. I guess we are just a down to earth bunch of guys here.
Some forums don't even have the rep point system activated. Or use a different system.
Anyway there are usually limitations built into the system to prevent cheating.
Needless to say, you can't rep your own posts.
There is also a limit (at least on other forums) of how many rep points you can give at one time as well as recieve at one time.
How many points you already have also affects how many points you can give. If a forum god like numberdummy gives points, the value of them will be higher than from a recently signed up member with no or little rep power.
Also if too many members decide to rep one guy in a short period of time, the point is recorded as a neutral.
I'm sure theres more to it then that and different administrators will decide how to fine tune the system from one web forum to another, but thats the gist of it.
In your user CP you will see the rep points left by other users, and your total point count. Next to each rep record you can see who left them, when it was left, what thread it was left for, and that member can also leave a comment, but doesn't have to.
Green is positive, red is negative and grey is a neutral point.
Man you didn't have to tell me you can get negative points, I'm afraid to look now. lol
Yea when rc told me how to give them I checked an you can't cheat.
You just HAD to tell starmilt there was BAD rep. points didn't you!
Seriously though I've seen guys give bad rep. points just because they didn't like what the other guy said, even if it was the truth.
I'm REALLY bad about giving rep. points, appearantly like most everyone on this forum because I went up to the '94-'97 sight for a while and they were "reppin'" each other all over the place.
I think this group is less in it for the "GLORY!"
LOL!
Ya got it dodge.
Actually you need to stay on here more, I've been trying to stick up for you but I need your help I think I've been loosing ground. lol
