No I am not turning into a transvestite. But I was wondering if anyone on this forum has ever convertered there automatic F250 (95 or similar) Into a Stick. I know its done alot in civics and stuff so I figured you guys here probably have done it... If so what would I need to do to convert it.. My thinking throws me into it and all I would need is new pedal assembly, tranny, hydroboost (I assume thats what they used for hydraulic clutches int hese trucks) and a diffrent ECU.... oh well and also the flywheel and clutch, but is that all i would need? If so the next question is will the newer ZF6's bolt to the 7.3's? Cause I think what I might do is save the money and slowly convert the truck into 4WD and stick, and make it a off road truck. Like rock well front end, etc lol make it like purpoe bult to crawl up a hill side. But yeah I just mainly want to know about a tranny conversionc ause my mom was wondering (She thinks it would be cool for me to do it) abyway thank you guys for the wealth of knowledge I got now,a nd will keep with me foreever.
Nope, you don't need hydroboost. Hydroboost is hydralic assist for the brakes. It uses power steering pressure instead of vacuum to assist braking.
You'll need a clutch slave cylinder. It mounts on the firewall and hooks to the clutch pedal. Then hydraulic line goes down to the bell housing where the clutch is.
You'll need a new flywheel. You'll also need a new driveshaft.
You don't need a new ECU. If the tranny isn't there, it will flash the OD light, but you're dumping that too. If you want to get rid of the shifter, you'll need a new steering column.
No the trucks is made for stick, its got all the holse and I like to shift gears. I love it.. I jsut love it,a dn yeah well lol I was plannin on just figuring a way to remove the auto shift lever, and just leave the stock bezel in. lol really foul people lol. But I mean can I keep my brake booster I have now, then add the master cylinder, change out the pedals, get the tranny and clutch and fly wheel and drive shaft for the truck and put them in and I assume thin it will work. Plus can I use the 6 speed out of newer one or can I only use the 5 speed ones? Or would a older 5 spd or 4 spd from an IDI 7.3 work? Like I said I want to make this a offraod rig. So yeah thanks guys.

Master and slave cylinders. also have to get a manual PCM, but any of the "big 3" can prolly reprogram your auto PCM to a manual one. clutch pedal, flywheel and clutch, driveshaft. And want to convert to 4x4? My .02 are sell your truck and use the money you would spend on your conversions to buy a 5spd 4x4.
