So Dono, now you need to work on your flex! :P Can't wait to see the pictures!!
AHAHAHA i was thinking it, you were sayin it! ... i was gonna be a nice guy for once but since you said it for me i gotta laugh LOL...its ok karl, youre still cool
yeah for flex i think ill wait until im rich one day, the day you win millions, and ill do a 1 ton swap like Ed did on his bronc and some 38's then i has flexy flexy
i cant wait for pictures either gonna do a photoshoot friday LOL, make some truck ****
overall or actual ratio is affected by tire size eg. going from 31's to 35's keeping the 3.55 gears my actual ratio goes from 3.55 down to 3.14 just by changing the tires...changing gears to get that back to 3.55 is the idea...and i guess if you were to go way up to 38 or more you would want even deeper gears to make the actual ratio lower...most over the road big rigs are 13, 15, or 18 speed trannys, the engines in these trucks are governed at 2200 RPM, no big rig engine will rev over that unless it has been tampered with... the reason for the 18 gears? have you ever shifted one? the gears are incredibly close together, not to compensate for power it is to keep the shift points at lower RPM (the bottom gears are usually shifted between 1000 and 1200 RPM) to lessen the strain on the rest of the drivetrain...as i said the rear end gears in the big rigs are about the same as the ones in most pick ups...more stockish pick ups anyway...
I know what affects overall gear ratio, I'm not arguing that. I'm trying to get you to understand that when it comes time to regear your pickup, being it only has a 300, it would be a good idea to use a lower (higher #) than stock over all gear ratio. And yes I've drivin big rigs, its a requirement to getting a no restrictions Class A CDL. the reason they have so many gears, is so they can stay in the power band. You ever drive a old Dodge cummins pickup? They govern out at (if I remember right) 2800 rpm, they only have a 5 speed. Reason being, they don't have to move around as much wt. I've delt with enough tire size/gear changes in my life to know what I'm talkin about. You don't have to listen to what I'm tryin to say, I just figued I'd try to help you pick the right gears to make ur pickup feel like its not a huge turd. But it sounds like you know everything you think you need to. So I'll leave it at that.
I am glad you FINALLY know where your tires are! Hope you like them!

im not trying to sound like a know it all or anything i know what you mean and i hear ya no arguments here man
thing is i just traded my 91 f150 for an 86 ish f250 with the full float rear end that already has 4.11's... but depending on time vs. money i might just regear the 8.8 for now, it is a turd, dont really notice a difference in 1st or 2nd but 3rd its a bit more sluggish and 4th gear feels like 5th gear and you can forget about ever actually using 5th gear now, no hope in hell so i hope that wind goes away id hate to run 3rd all the way to work
i cant find 4.56 gears on summit? they only have like 4 ratios for the 8.8? WTF?...any way...scroll down slowly
Lol just kidding man. Glad you finally got them after two and a half months! Hahah. Now see if you can flex a little and tuck them into the fenders.
ooooo ouch... LOL jks
im kinda glad my springs dont flex...from the looks of things i dont think i will want them too LOL...
and get this...interco tires actually sized up...we measures 34.5" with the truck on em!!!! thats like ground breaking...i gotta go test my steering travel and such tomorrow probably and i will be sure to take mo pitchas!
I believe that you obtained that overall heigth because you have stuffed a wide tire on a 6 or 7 inch wide factory wheel.
Notice the edges of the tires are not making contact with the ground? You can see in the pics where the outside edges have not made contact after the vehicle was rolled. Sort of like the chalk test.
Look on BroncoGraveyard for gears. They have a goos selection. 4.56s like I'm getting for mine(running 33s) are about $145 a axle. Not a bad price. You should really find some cheap 15x10s for them tires. You would be suprised how much better the tires will look.

Truck looks good though man.................
thanks man!
i thought they were 8.5s? they cant be that bad the tire isnt actually buldged as much as i expected, and now that theres snow on the ground from what i have seen they sit pretty flat actually, ill have to take a better look next time...we getting a bitchin winter storm right now...lots of snow not too cold windy as hell and crazy icy...another day of this and there should be some sweet drifts to test these things out in, so far they have done much better than the procomps on the snow and ice...and well...everything else too LOL....WAY WAAAAY more traction in the dirt.... I LOVE THESE TIRES!!!

summit has them for about that too but they are easier to pay from up here in canada...not only that but i know the retaining bolt for the cross pin in my rear diff is broken so to get those gears out ill either have to torch or drill the cross pin out and probably screw up the carrier in the process so i need a new one of those for the rear too...and LS isnt much more than open these days so i decided to go that way with the rear end...for 4.56 open front and 4.56 LS rear w/rebuilt kit is about $650 before shipping...fair enough considering the shop in town wants $1500-$2000 in parts alone not including the LS rear carrier...with labour they want about $3k...yeah...

dont have much room between the tires and the fenders...havent made contact yet and havent really flexed it to test but its pretty close...i can cut the bumper LOL
the big *** outter lugs catch pretty bad on my rad arms but no rub otherwise... yet... gotta get some 1" wheel spacers when the cash comes in...unless i find some wheels with 1" more backspacing for about $80 a piece...i need to find out the backspacing on these factory wheels...another inch and i might clear my rad arms hahah
The worst i've had happen is tucked the tire into the fender well and it stopped moving. And that was the most flex this truck has ever seen. I was climbing straight up a pretty big log. (Weighed more than my truck lol.)
