I agree with that statement. The 1st night my truck wouldn't start while I was installing my DP Tuner, it was almost 3 am & I was on here looking for answers & Clay was PM'ing me, giving me suggestions to try.

No, yo don't need to worry as much about tranny temps for a handshaker. I would spend the money on another gauge.

The preferred method is pre-turbo. It gives a more accurate reading, as it is closer to the block and gives the exhaust gas less time to cool before being read. It takes the guess work out of knowing how hot the pistons are getting.

Thanks, seems like the most obvious of reasons.

Isspros and Autometer seem to be the ones now, I heard in another thread the Dipricols, they arn't going to make anymore, forgot about the reason why. Don't hold me to it though, guys on here had NO problems with them.

Define the term handshaker?

Edit: I think I figured it out. A manual trans. Doh.

There is no direct anwser. It can be nothing at idle to as much as 500* at WOT pulling a load. There is only one correct place to put a pyro probe on a PSD... Pre turbo.

In the manifold or in the up pipe is up to you, but pre turbo is the only location.

Would you consider it useful to have both so you can compare them and see how much heat your engine is absorbing?

Myself, no... I feel the only thing a post turbo pyro is good for us shut down temps. But I never wait any longer then about 375-400 anyway.

I would think a Manifold pressure gauge would be more useful then a post turbo pyro in that respect. You can see how well your turbo is working.
