I am looking for a little better sound out of my truck. I dont have the cash right now for one of those expensive full exhaust systems. I was wondering if i just throw on say a flowmaster 40 series muffler in place of the stock one if id get some decent sound out of it. What is the inlet size so id know which one to get? I have a 1994 '150 with 4x4 and the 351. A shop would be able to weld this up for me right?
it will give some sound increase, if i remember correctly stock pipe size is 2 1/4" but a quick measurement could verify that. most exhaust shops should weld it up for you.
the Flowmaster mufflers should come in just about all combinations of inlet and outlet sizes. You can check their web site, last time I was on there I was able to find the right inlet and outlet size and then had my muffler guy order it for me.
Flowmaster 30 series will give you an even better sound and shouldn't be too loud.
