Has anybody experienced valve train tick when pulling away from a dead stop when engine is up to full operating temperature? I have a 2009 FX4 5.4L with only 3,000 miles.
im thinking more like a possible faulty VCT cam phaser
I thought the VCT issue had been fixed but would'nt bet my life on it, just had my 04 done luckily I had fords ESP plan no more 5.4;s for me am waiting to have a look at the 5.0 4V?????
Our truck is in the shop right now, valve train problems. The sound became louder, then it did not want to idle, was missing really bad, looking at a lot of money for the repairs.
What you are probably hearing is the injectors, as someone has mentioned. They got loud after MY04 (or everything else got quieter).. It was a semi-common complaint in the 04-08 forum.
Before you tell us its due to him not using a motorcraft filter with a drainback valve... Save us the time. Thats BS. I've used mc, amsoil you name it and no diff at start up.
We use mobile 1, synthetic 5w20 with the mobile 1 oil filter.
