Another 1965 F100 question: Is there a way to adjust the tension in the cable for the heater fan? The **** likes to gradually slide out as I drive, so I'm having to reach down and push it back in...not anything major, just annoying.
I am assuming that it is the **** on the right hand side of the dash. My 66 does the same thing. Dont know how to fix it other than replacing it with a different one. actually what it does is changes the air flow from floor to defrost. when it is all the way out it is in defrost mode. the other two which are right below it and hanging from the dash are the controls. one is connected to the heater hose under the hood.this turns the water on and off to the heating unit. the one beside it regulates how much air is allowed into the heating unit under the dash. most of the time from dust, dirt, and rust, neither of these cables work very well unless replaced.being the tightwad i am i turn on the heat under the hood with a pair of pliers. A PITA i know . dutch
Yes, that's the one...the cable that transfers air from floor to defrost etc. All my heater controls work great, except this one is too loose and has a mind of it's own. The other PITA are those little white **** inserts that keep falling out. I guess I should glue them before I lose them all.
Im pretty sure I have one...Im checking my stuff now...
Just to clarify, your truck has the flexible boot at the far right end which connects to the kick panel...Also, do it have the water valve under the hood with the cable attached to it ??
The cable and switch on my '65 are intact and working, except for the fact the know will slowly travel out, changing the location of the air exhaust. I don't think it would be worth the trouble replacing with another, I simply thought there might be a simple way to increase the tension/friction on that cable so it stays where I put it.

I think I'm in the same boat... 65 Ford F100, missing the heater bezel. I am gathering that this is no longer made by anyone... right?

There were two different heater bezels, as it depends on which heater the truck has.
The economy heater uses a different bezel than the deluxe heater.
Deluxe: There is one heater cable/blower switch mounted in the dash and two additional heater cables mounted under the dash to the right of the steering column on a bracket.
Economy: The heater cable/blower switch is mounted in the dash.

I just looked again, and found FOUR of them.
Great! Thanks to you, I now know that I have the deluxe heater and the optional 4-way flashers. Keep it coming.

I don't recall having two additional heater cables, so I'm thinking I ahve the economy heater... so if you're saying you know where I can get the bezel and nut for that switch, let me know, I'd be much appreciative.

I didn't look for the bezel (or the nut-since you didn't mention it before), because I didn't know which type your truck has.
C5TZ18598A .. Heater Bezel-Use with Economy Heater / Obsolete
Fits: 1965/66 F100/1100 / 1967/68 F100/750.
No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any. No one has the Deluxe bezel (C1TF18598A), either.

Bill, we've determined in past posts that I have the fresh air heater in a truck that used to have the econo heater.
I also have the vent on the passenger side with the cable on the dash to open it. Can I still get the heater extension housing and rubber bellows and hook that heater to the vent? Maybe do away with the current vent and go to the fresh air system? Or is there actually a difference in the cab itself?
Prolly have to find the parts from Garbz or Robt out in Hemet, though.

Carpenter lists the Fresh Air Inlet Duct for 1965/66 F100/350's * (DC's part number: C5TZ-18A568-R) on page 77 of his 1957/66 truck repro parts catalog: $45.00 / Call 800-476-9653 and order a catalog...it's free.
But, DC doesn't show a picture of the puppy.
The 1964/72 Ford truck parts catalog shows this duct as having a squarish end where it bolts to the heater plenum chamber and a round end where it attaches via a clamp to the round plastic collar (C5TZ8102880A) located in the cowl panel.
* Both of these parts actually fit: 1965/66 F100/1100; 1965/69 N/NT500/750; 1967/69 F800/1000 all with the fresh air heater.
I hate it when they do that. I have to become plumber when I get home from work tonight.
I saw a pic of someone's heater in another thread I can't locate right now and there was an extention of the heater box that had a manualy opening vent and then the rubber seal to the kick panel area. My heater box currently stops right at the core and shows evidence of once having the extension screwed to it.
