i have finally inspected the parking brake cable on my 01 expy since my pedal just goes down to the floor and there is no tension. I have found out that the cable is broken 6 inches from where it is connected to the parking brake cable. how hard is this to replace the cable?
I am pretty sure I have all the needed tools. Also does anyone know how often the coils for the spark plugs have to be changed. I have 167k on my expy and I believe it still has the coils from when it was new. I have a miss at idle but no check engine light and new plugs already installed. And only getting around 10mpg combined hwy/city

There is no set maintenance replacement interval. Once they start going you just replace them. I am of the opinion that once the first one goes, the others are soon to follow. The engine heat makes the rubber boots on the COPs brittle and they end up cracking, eventually leading to the misfires.

Here's a pretty good link with detail for adjusting and replacing either of the two cables, front or back.
It's not the easiest of tasks when working on your Expy.
