Thanks guys! I did find a C8AE-H that was already rebuilt, but isn't drilled for the 14 bolt exhaust. I will probably look for another week and if nothing comes up I will buy that head and drill the holes. I found a template online that I can printout to mark the holes.

Sarching ebay there are a few sellers on there that have extremely high by it now prices. I know FE parts are not abundant like they used to be, but is $600-$900 for a set of 390 heads realistic?

Unhappy cylinderheads, pricing

Lift, most of the C8AE-H and D2TE-AA heads can be drilled for the other patterns if you need to. But the trucks always used the two vertical pattern, IIRC. I can't speculate about why some Ebay-ers have the high buy it now prices......FEs and their parts are very abundant where I live. Are you looking for just a casting, or a finished and ready to bolt on head ? If you're looking to buy a head casting, a rebuildable C8AE-H or D2TE-AA head should cost 25 bucks or less. I can't imagine paying more than 250$ for a freshly rebuilt ready to bolt on head of either number. Where do you live that you're seeing such high prices and low availability ? DinosaurFan

I found a rebuilt set of C8AE-H heads for $450. They have all new seats, guides, springs and valves. They also have a 3 angle valve job done. All I need to do would be drill the extra exhaust holes.

Does this sound like a good deal?

the price doesnt sound bad to me. I dont know where $250 rebuilt heads are but I would like to. People around here want to charge at least 400 just for the 3 angle valve job. Some as much as 800. Which is rediculous..

I'll let you make the decision..
