I took my heads to the machine shop for a valve job and they found a crack in one of the heads. Does anyone know where I can find another head? I need head with the 14 bolts pattern for the exhaust and the smog holes. I haven't called DSC Motorsports yet, but I figure he will have what I need.
I would prefer to find a single head or heads that are closer to the east coast. Shipping will be a bear from Ca. to Pa.
he's an honest guy IMO. Tell him Bob from Costa Mesa who bought the COAE's from him gave you the number if you decide to go that route. He's got a chit load of FE heads and could send a single i'm sure. Still think your best bet is patience and diligence locally. Hell a few local machine shops may have a set/single on the shelf.
the guy at valley autoparts has a set that are rebuilt and ready to go. theyre in wilmerding, you want to call and talk to the machine shop. he's got a rebuilt set, a core set, and a couple blocks he REALLY wants to get rid of. valley autoparts, in wilmerding. give them a call. he wants the stuff gone.
sorry about that, i haven't talked to him in awhile, figured it was worth a shot. theres a guy out in clymer pa i can almost gaurantee will have something. hes only got a couple hundred parts trucks.
Would it be alot easier and less of a headache if I found a set of standard C8AE-H heads and drilled them for the 14 bolt exhaust? I am rebuilding them anyways with new springs that match my cam.
From what I have read the only difference between standard 390 and 390GT heads are the bolts for the exhaust and the spring.
Later service replacement versions of the C8AE-H heads have 16 bolt holes to cover all exhaust patterns. This way you don't have to mess with drilling and tapping them.
