He is saying that the heat shield is there to protect the cold air from the heat coming off the exhaust manifold.

This is a very true statement, however most believe it is incredibly ugly and remove it because of that fact.

In all reality it does affect air temps sitting at idle. But if you perform the ZooDad mod then you greatly increase air flow to the engine compartment. Thus negating the problem.

If you search for ernesteugene's posts on the subject, he has plenty of reading for you, and I wouldn't dare even try to summarize it.

That's because most of the negatives come from people who have never run it.

Probably 99% of the folks who have used or currently use the 6637 like it.

6637 is a dang fine setup, especially for the price. If you feel like spending the money on the AFE then by all means do it, but don't feel like you have to.

What do you mean? I have the AFE2 already installed and my question was is it worth the performance gain or are they equal?

The 6637 is not any better, or any worse, than an AFE2. The 6637 wins for most of us because its so dang affordable.

Thanks, always looking for performance. Will stick it out for now with the AFE2.

If you already have the AFE2 then yes, keep it. When you get tired of washing filters, look into the 6637 filter in your AFE intake

Please note that the above post was my first and only planned post on this thread and it was intended to provide a relatively new member with an easily way of obtaining useful information and offer to answer any additional questions he might have.

Clearly if the OP so chooses he can click on my reference links and read for himself and draw his own conclusions and ask questions if he wants to! Now just what's so offensive about my original post and my method for trying to disseminate useful information that I deserved to have someone jump in my face over it?

What purpose is served by just getting in someone's face for the thrill of it and in the process not contributing any technical information at all? I thought the primary purpose of this forum is discussing technical information not getting in each other's faces!
