95 problem

I am checking out a 95 PS that is missing. It has the OBD2 connector, but Autoenginuity will not communicate with the modules (works fine on my 02). Does anyone use AE on theres, is there a setting I could change to read it?

I went to trubleshooting old school. I started engine and revved a few seconds then felt the exhaust manifolds. #'s 1,2,4,and 5 were cool, and the rest were hot. When I unplugged #2&4 connector it barely changed sound. The other two with one missing injector sounded like one was killed, and the 6&8 plug was like both, just like I figured.

Here are the questions I have about this:

1. Are you guys experiencing the CPS problems like on the later PS engines?

2. Is there problems with the under valve cover connections like the later PS engines?

I am leaning towards the CPS because it happened all at once.

Check the UVCH sounds like the problem, as far as AE not reading codes did you check the fuse for the cigarette lighter if it does not work then the obd plug will not read just a starting place.

I did not check the fuse, Possibly tomorrow. It was just a quick check as we did not have time. From working on the later PS engines, it kind of seems like the CPS, but I have not really worked on the earlier problems, so I would like to know if it could be the culprit.

Any info on early 7.3's would help.

Thanks

My truck doesnt connect to AE either. I spoke with Bill at PHP and he said the older models do this, and started in 2004. Something to do with too high of a frequency reading between the PCM and reading software.

The UVCH is a problem, but more likely the wiring in the connectors at the VC's themselves. The pins burn up a lot. And definitely, if you unplugged it and it ran the same, its connections or wire shorts somewhere. I know because when I did my electric fuel, one of the VCH's got disconnected. Ran horrible until I saw it laying there unplugged.

I wouldnt figure on the CPS. When they go bad, it wont start at all.

The one thig that makes me wonder is that it happened all at once, I would figure that UVCH connections would be noticed before it got this bad. Like one at a time, ot that it would have progressed to this point. This truck just started running bad overnight. I will check the UVCH connections tomorrow then report back.

Pretty much any issue the newer PSD has the older one had as well. CPS and UVC are on par with each engine. AE can be used on the OBS but from reading it looks like it can be temper mental on the 94.5 to 95's. 96 and up doesn't seem to be much issue. You might talk to Dennis at ITP about the AE. might be as simple as some settings but I don't use AE yet so I can't say either way
