Battery replacement
I have a 2002 F250 5.4. I'm going to replace the battery only because the original is still in the truck and I'm concerned about dependability. Can I just put the new one in? I seem to recall that there is some kind of driving cycle that must be done to re-train the OBDII if battery power is disconnected.
Thanks everybody.

You will lose your radio memory, and I am not sure if the radio has a security code or not if the power is disconnected.
And the memory will be wiped out of the engine computer, but it only takes a few hours of driving before it relearns your engine. There is no special procedure for the driving process, just drive it normally.

You have about 2 minutes of capacitor charge if you're quick.
Never used it, but supposedly this works well: Amazon.com: Computer Memory Saver: Automotive
Also if you've got the space, you could also always wire in parallel, juggling until you got the hold one out of the loop. Battery Wiring
