Looks like I'm in early stages of replacing batteries in my 2008 6.4. Not starting as easy and get a "check brakes" notice on dash for an instant or two.
What's the best batteries to get? Dealer or Autozone, etc?
I've had good luck with motorcraft in everything but the 6.4L. Bought the '08 when it was just over 3 years old 72K miles and it had new interstates, they lasted about 3 and 40K before getting the brake warning a few months back. I went with NAPA 84 month this time.
I replaced mine with Motorcraft last year.... Just had a rough start yesterday AM with the "Check Brake System" message as well. Batteries aren't even a year old.
I replaced mine with the Duralast Platinum which is an AGM type battery. They are made by Johnson Controls. Finishing up the second winter with them and they have been very reliable.
My batteries went out at around 47000 and I went with Optima's. Have been extremely happy with them and would never put back in a battery that had failed so miserably to begin with. The primary battery on the left side is usually the one that goes first, and oddly, it's the one that comes without the insulating blanket. I made my own blanket for the left side when I put in the Optima's and I must say I have been very pleased.

Good chance it has a 12 month replacement warranty.
I bought motorcraft replacement batteries from o'rilley I believe. The oem were 750 and the replacement ones were 850 if I recall right. Their website shows they have a 3 yr free replacement then 100 month prorated.
I was reading a post elsewhere about changing the batteries. It said to change one at a time, so you don't lose the memory of the computer, etc.
True or not? Can I not just take both out, go get two new ones and install them together?
