My torque converter is making that infamous scrapping sound in the bell housing section of the transmission. I have read various forums and it turns out I need a new torque converter. What brand of torque converters do you think are reliable? I don't want to hear that scrapping sound ever again. I have heard of some good torque converters but just thought I'd check with you guys. Do you guys think a simple flush of the fluid would fix the problem? Also, how long do you think I have until she leaves me stranded? Thanks,
Infamous scraping sound? Is it a light whoosh-whoosh-whoosh that slows with speed? Can you only hear it when the truck is under 15-13mph?
Mine has a slight scraping sound at 10mph or less when slowing. If I shift it out of gear and let it coast at that same speed, it doesn't make the noise. I thought it might be a u-joint or something.

Yup, it makes that noise at slow speed at 10mph-15mph and between 1st-2nd shifts. I got under the truck while holding the break and adding some throttle, I heard the noise by the transmission bell housing.
