ok i was on napa and auto zone website would this be consitered a tps? because they dont have a fipl just a tps and i am thinking that is it cuz it looks like what is described in the info george sent me here is a link for napa NAPAONLINE) and for autozone AutoZone.com | Vehicle Selection | Year
Yah, tis the TPS alright, tis only us IDI folks that call them FIPLs, everyone else knows them as TPSs. And your tank issue is a common and well known problem, honestly whoever sold you that truck should have warned you about it - when I was getting my truck the old owner warned me not to go under 1/4 tanks, he said he never had any issues with it but just to be on the safe side to keep both tanks over 1/4 full. Tis been an year now and I still haven't had that issue, knocking on wood...
Both my tanks are fine I useualy bont go below a quater on the fron because the sender is off ans says empty while theres a quater tank left. yeah they always look at me funny at the parts store when I call parts by their proper name. I defy you to show me the throtle on an IDI or a 7.3 or later 6.0 they did use one on the early 6.0 for EGR mixing purposes.
thans yeah he should have warned me about it but s#$@ happens i bought it from a trucking company so i dont think it ever got that low the only thing it was used for was towing a 26 foot cattle trailer so if anyone wants cow poop let me know ill scrape some off the floor for ya haha it isnt that bad to bleed the lines i just got 2 blood blisters and a busted knuckle
ok i replaced the fipls today and set it like it said in the instructions no difference it still starts off in over drive sometimes in second then shifts to overdrive and sometimes it shifts fine but most of the time just overdrive if i shift it manualy i have 2nd and overdrive if i turn the overdrive off it still stays in 99%of the time my overdrive light is not flashing and dose anyone know where i can find the diagram for the fuse box under the hood again this is a 92 f250 with a 7.3 i found out what fuzed have the draw but they are not labled what hooks up to them and i dont have the owners manual the draw is on the #9 and #20 maxi fuses thanks for all the help so far i need to figure this out soon so anyone that has any info please help!!!! thank you
Dose the light on the od cancel *** work? This problem yould be making it go nuts. Have you had your trans checked for codes? Also check all your grounds and make sure you have a good conection on the negative post of the drivers side battery.
Did you ever track down that clicking sound on the passenger inside fender? I just remembered that my truck has an external regulator for the alternator that is located there. If the regulator goes crazy on the alternator, it will affect the computer. Low power might mean the shift solenoids can't activate properly. With both shift solenoids off, the valve body defaults to 4th gear.
Can anyone remember or post what year they started to use alternators with internal regulators on these engines?
i never did track down the clicking sound i will check that out tomorrow when i push the od button the light goes on and if i push it again it goes off i was just going to ask if it havd a voltage regulator over there my volt meter goes up and down and my lights brighten and dim along with it
and also i noticed if i disconect the batteries when i shut it off i only get about 10 sec of good cranking it is like they arent getting charged all the way it is the same if i shut it off and start it right away thats why i thought voltage regulator i had the alternator tested the other day and the batteries they all tested fine
