I have a 2.8 L v6 I got out of a Bronco II that is going in an offroad buggy. Which automatic tranny's will bolt up to this engine?

Thanks in advance

The A4LD is your best bet.

all cologne engines share bolp patterns so 2.8, 2.9 and 4.0 A4LD bellhousings are interchangeble, if you have 3.0 A4LD look for cologne bellhousing on JYs.

4.0 has a bit different shift points.

There was a non-overdrive C5 available in '84 and '85 BII's, that would be the best bet in the way of stock IMO.

For an offroad buggy, I would go with the A4ld in 4x4 if you can lay your hands on one. My first Ranger had one and it got me where I wanted to [within reason]. Mine never left me stranded but I used a simple rule of thumb, when in doubt... DON'T. I was usually on my own out in the bush, and had no desire to walk miles out. I dragged a couple of other folks out of a bad spot because I happened to show up on the trail. I never counted on my luck for that to happen to me.

how much are you looking to spend?

if you can find the bellhousing off a c-5 behind a 2.8 you can bolt a c-4 or c-6 to it. that would proably be your strongest cheapest option.

culluhane is now making the bellhousing as well, but they are in the 400 dollar range.

if the sky;s the limit, there is a adapter plate out there, forget who makes it that will allow you to hook up a th400 or 700r4.

if its just a junkyard part buggy, what ever tranny you can find, and a pair of good tranny coolers with fans, heat it the biggest killer of a auto.

but with any slushbox, I would run the biggest tranny cooler or coolers you can afford with a electric fan set up to keep the fluid cool.
