need bronco help

have 89 bronco 351w some put diesel in and ran it stop running dont know if i should just rebuild only has 35,000 on motor could really use some help thanks.

This is the wrong forum. But I think this should help.

Drain the fuel tank and refill with gas. You may need to replace the spark plugs and fuel filter but it shouldn't have caused any engine damage.

i did that when its running it pops and backfires has short spurts of smoke not consistent

I believe diesel is a step above primordial ooze in the evolution of fuel. My nephew stuck diesel in the lawnmower and after fresh gas in the tank and a new plug, once we got it started it took quite awhile before it quite smoking and would run good. No damage done.

It might take time to get it all out of the system. Your Bronco has a return fuel line, so if the truck was ran, the diesel would have worked through the whole fuel system. Since I think gas is lighter than diesel, your pickup should pull the separated diesel first. YOu may just need to let it run a while.
