CCV Mod Question
Just completed the CCV Mod and had a question regarding using heater hose. Has anyone had problems with using heater hose and having it degrade since it is not oil resistant. If so, what kind of life can I expect?

Running 1 year on mine and the outside of the hose near the motor is all oily and nasty. I've heard of a few guys on here (F250_ for sure, maybe Pocket) are using the clear hose you can buy at a hardware store with good success. I plan on re-doing mine soon.

I ran a heater hose for 2 years. By the time I finally pulled it off, it was falling apart. Like Chase mentioned, the clear vinyl hose sold at Home Depot or Lowes works just fine. I've had the vinyl hose on for about 2 years now, and it still looks brand new. It's more expensive than heater hose, but definately lasts much much longer.

Or just run fuel rated hose like the kind I include in my CCV kit...

I recommend not using "traps" of any kind because those increase restriction and can freeze up! With my mod you can pour a cup of water in the doghouse end and it should all run out to a catch cup at the other end. This test insures that you don't have a low section that can collect condensation and freeze up!
I used a 3/4" ID thick wall vinyl hose that is part of the "Sewer Solution" jet pump system, see the links below.
This is the complete system and it's the way to go if you RV! ...Sewer Solution- High velocity water jet pulls sewage from the RV sewer pipe and ejects it out the discharge hose... Sewer Solution - Item - Camping World

Thanks for all the input. I think I'll be on the lookout for something other than heater hose. Does anyone know the part number for the elbow? Had to replace it with heater hose. Works for now but would like to get it replaced before the oil eats it.

I picked up plastic plumbing elbows from home deposition! like 89cents a piece. If your talking about the ccv intake piece, i just replaced it with a piece of 4" diameter exhaust tubing. had to order it online, no trucks stops around my house. Also used a piece for the 6637 mod

PM me and I will help you out. I can get the elbow for you and get you some fuel rated hose. Usually I don't like to break up the CCV kit but I would like to help you out. I would be happy to help you out for cost so that you don't feel like you have to keep watching your current hose.

I clamp in a piece of custom bent 3/4 inch copper tubing to the factory elbow and clamp it on the other end down in the frame rail. It works great and I can't see ever having to replace it. The only thing different I've done on one is to braze on a little screen holder on my 350 to the road end. It keeps the wasps out. That truck is usually only used on weekends and they have tried to get a nest going in there before.
