I noticed this the other day when I was poking around under the hood- the hose is oily as it starts to climb over the brake booster for a surprising amount of length. I tightened up the hose clamp, which wasn't loose by any means but not snug either. Normal, nothing to worry about or is something up?
hey i just rerouted mine the other day and it was oily like on the outside as well, maybethis is normal? all the clamps were tight as well, and heres another thing, i had about 14" of hose left over from when i didi the ccv mod and i grabbed that because i might have needed it for thr rerouting and it seemed oily and it was new
If its just heater hose and has been on for awhile it can start leeching through it on the end. Heater hose works fine, thats what I have, but it isn't rated for petroleum.

Now this is strange.

I think that you got it Clay. Heater hose is not rated for petroleum products.
Are you sure the clamps are tight or not to tight from restriction, why I ask is I have heater hose and mines fine. I have a foot long piece on the end going half way down connected to the ground thats garden hose and thats ok to Chase, just a thought...
So what to use then? I don't like oily nasty looking stuff under the hood
Your going to laugh but I used some Caflex or elecrical non metallic liquid tite. It is rated to be used in oily locations. It's all I had laying around when I did the mod. I also ran mine right down and not over the MC. I was consecned about condensation freezing in there.

That's "normal" but definitely not "desired"! The way I routed my CCV hose is shown in the pics below. I don't think the right-angle bend to go up and over the master cylinder is a good approach because 1) it increases the restriction to flow, 2) it allows condensed gunk to drain back into the wire mesh in the doghouse, and 3) the hose runs down the outside of the frame rail where the hose is subjected to lower temperatures.
My approach is almost a straight run that keeps the hose near the engine and tranny and terminates just past the tranny. I also recommend not using heater hose!
That's some fancy looking hose Gene! I might just have to mess around with it to get it setup the way I want... need to build a trap anyways
I also don't recommend "traps" of any kind because those increase restriction and can freeze up! With my mod you can pour a cup of water in the doghouse end and it should all run out to a catch cup at the other end. This test insures that you don't have a low section that can collect condensation and freeze up!
I used a 3/4" ID thick wall vinyl hose that is part of the "Sewer Solution" jet pump system, see the links below.
This is the complete system and it's the way to go if you RV! ...Sewer Solution- High velocity water jet pulls sewage from the RV sewer pipe and ejects it out the discharge hose... http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?skunum=16617&src=SRQB
