Good evening everyone.
I learned today that my laptop's video display section is succumbing due to an earlier fever it suffered through.
So I've decided that its time for my ol' laptop to rest in pieces, as soon as I can get my files off the hard drive.
Decisions - decisions
Do I go Mac or PC?
Do I get another laptop or a desktop?
At the moment I'm thinking desktop with dual core processor on a mother board that can handle two or three video cards, seeing that I have an XP Professional (dual core) installation CD, along with an XP Media installation CD and a load of other windows software too-boot.
The question becomes, how do I air-condition the PC when the house is not air-conditioned?

from what ive heard MAC has a computer now you can run it as dual mode... Mac OS to keep everything safe and stable OS... and you can run any windows version on it you want...
but i like my PC's

I am aware of those coolers for the CPU, and I have also heard about condensation issues.
It was the video section though that burnt up.
I presume they make the coolers for those little video CPU's too now?

Since my last post, I've learned more about PCIe slots.
Can run one video card from each slot, but can only team up two slots to run in tandem so that the two cards are dividing up the work in displaying one image.

Dave you can run two video cards together but they have to be the same type, manufacturer, memory size. You would want to get a motherboard that is capable of either sli or crossfire. They include the bridge to link both cards together. I find that newegg.com is a great resouce for purchasing parts, research or both.

There is a local computer repair shop that has a good rep, like Don's.
I've been going to them over the years.
Likely I'll have them build it for me.
I saved a lot of junk from the old PC's I trashed, maybe some of the power supplies and boards are still serviceable.
Keep my costs down.
