I moved mine around regularly, but certainly not daily.
True I was still wired in, so I could just as well have relocated a PC.
The thought goes through my mind to mount the keyboard and a monitor to the lap-desk and run the leads down to the PC along side my comfy club chair or the couch.
While laptops are nice and everything a desktop is better for performance on the cheap.
You can continually upgrade a desktop for a reasonable amount of money with relative ease. A laptop's components are more expensive and harder to replace. (From what I've been told. Never had my laptop ripped open)
I can see the reasoning though.
Laptops need more compact components and more compact = more expensive. And any time you cram a large amount of stuff in a small amount of space working on stuff in that space will get difficult.
Another thing about higher performance laptops is that they get HOT.
Not warm. They get HOT. The laptop I'm using now is decent still and was considered high performance when I got it 2 or 3 years ago. It gets extremely hot. I have to keep it on the table with the back elevated for airflow or else it will either burn me or begin overheating.
And I know that if you guys are like me and have Tim Taylor Syndrome (More power!) you will want to upgrade your machine as it gets older. (like we upgrade our trucks)
I really regret having gotten a laptop instead of a desktop. If you don't need a laptop go with a desktop. JMHO
You got it right Pete..
The manufacturers love people to buy laptops cause they know they will need to be repaired or replaced sooner than a desktop..
If I'm not mistaken that would be an HDMI cable and I am looking at them on NewEgg.
Longest one I've found thus far is 75 feet for 92 dollars and change.
Now that is cable length. I had help designing the rig I specified. I don't know if you'd need any special anything to get the signal to travel that far.
