1981 f-100 headlight switch

Hi I was reading the thread on painting your gauges white well i thought it was cool so i went to take the cover off when i noticed i could not get the headlight switch and wiper/washer ****'s.Does anybody know how to get these off?

you need a little hook tool and pull in in a slight slot on the **** (look real close and you will see it), and you start pulling, the **** slides off.

Or on the headlight switch, you can reach up behind the dash and push the **** release. Sometimes its easier. On my wiper switch i used a small hex wrench to release the **** because i didnt have a hooked tool.
