To tell ya the truth Paul, since I lost my EGR pipe somewhere along a 200 mile round trip I eliminated it because a new pipe was $30 shipped anyways. Plus, I just decided to rid myself of it so I don't have to worry about it being dirty or anything else.
I'm with Conanski. FYI, when the EGR tube rotted off of the nipple on the cat, I found that an old lawnmower handle (tubular) was the right size, and I welded a section of that in, and it worked like a charm. That was about 3 years ago--no issues.
How much is this eliminator you are talking about? A new pipe at $30 doesn't sound all that bad. Not knocking your decision or view, just wondering what the cost difference is. I personally wouldn't have eliminated the egr, I might have found parts in a Jyard instead of buying new as well. To each is own.
It's $20+ shipping for the eliminator.
The block-off plate with a gasket and stainless bolts is $15+ shipping.
And if needed, the EGR plug is only $5+ shipping.
It ended up being around $47 for everything.
1. The junkyards around here charge way too much.
2. A new EGR Valve runs upwards of $165.
3. I just eliminated the need for replacing it if it fails.
4. No more wondering if the EGR is truely clean or not.
5. You lose absolutely nothing by doing it.
6. It cleans up unnecessary clutter in my bay.

Good luck my friend, you have nothing to lose except unnecessary bay clutter by removing it.
