Reverse sensing system never worked. Didn't check when I picked it up since I did not have my radio on. I was told sound comes through radio system. Not sure since I have yet to hear what one sounds like.
I was getting the "check rear parking aid" when backing up. I had the unit turned on. Took back to dealer and told they need to order a replacement module.
weird that problem wasn't found before it left the factory or during the dealer's so called predelivery inspection.
no problems with mine so far. This is the first truck I had with the revere sensors. But I don't like how the black sensors stand out on my white bumper, so my body shop guy said he can paint them for me. I've seen them come already painted on other Ford or Lincoln cars, but you can't buy them prepainted rather they are paint to match.
Does the sound come through the radio? When I test drove it, I asked why I did not hear it when I was backing up. The dealer was in vehicle with me and said it was because we did not have radio on.
Not sure about the so called pre-delivery inspection.
As far as quality control.... My seat back adjust button didn't work and the cooled seat buttom didn't work. And that was new on the lot when I checked it out.
Sounds like the manufacturer of the reverse sensing module has issues with their unit burn in and testing. Most of the time, in production burn in and testing will weed out electronics with issues. But as you've found, it's not 100%. Electronics have the tendency to fail within a short period of time, say 90 days, if they are going to fail.
The good here is your dealer is taking care of the problem.
I've got to laugh, pre-delivery inspection. Some dealers just fill out the form without anyone ever looking at anything. Heck, I bought a truck years ago and the guy doing the prep backed into the wall, bent the step bumper into the point where it hit the bed. My pre-delivery inspection form was all filled out with everything marked off as "in perfect condition".
