Red face Park Assist Speaker Location?

I own an 05 Expedition with rear park assist. The system appears to be working, minus the actual alert sound. If I back up with the radio on, the radio will automatically lower the volume as normal so the audible "beeps" will be easily heard. There appears to be a TSB regarding the issue I described, the fix is to first replace the speaker that is attached to the module. Cheap enough to try, about $35 bucks. I have no idea where the module/speaker is located. This makes sense to try it, maybe avoiding potential outrageous dealer charges "tracing the problem"

Any input would greatly help!

I don't know if it was moved from the location in my 2001 manual or not. But according to my manual, the PAM (Parking Assist Module) and the PAM speaker are separate, which is good news. Both are shown to be at the right rear of the vehicle, at the end of the third row seat behind the plastic cover.

I'll have to look in that location, the one in my 01 is hard to hear. Are we talking about the rear panel that has the (woofer) speaker behind it?

Did you ever find the location of where this speaker is? I'm having the same problem locating it. (Perhaps A Picture)?

Thanks so much

It's above the left rear tire, behind the interior panel.

It makes sense though. If you're backing up and the speaker starts blaring, the natural tendency is to look towards the noise. This give you a natural reflex to turn and look behind you.

2004 Expy EB. drivers side, pull out the rear cup holder for the 3rd row. Speaker and Module mounted together (2 plugs) just rear of the seatbelt retractor.

I just purchased a 2006 Expedition to tow a boat. The rear parking sensor returns a "Check Park Assist" warning when I start the engine. My mechanic said the sensors work and it is the audio module that is not working. He seems to think that is a pricy fix. Is this something that can easily be replaced? Not sure I need it enough to pay a lot, as this is not a primary vehicle.

For the 2006 Expedition, remove the left rear inside quarter panel. The parking aid module is right above the left rear wheel. On Expeditions the audio speaker is built into the module.

FOUND IT

I found mine alert speaker on my 2005 Expedition finally. I was looking under the glove box in the kick panel. But It is just above the left rear wheel well. No need to remove the inside panel. I was able to access it through the cutout for the seat belt. It is stuck to the backup assist module with double sided tape and a grommet . I managed to pry it loose with a long flat blade screw driver. Using long nose pliers and my fingers I was able to free it from the harness and pull it our through the seat belt cutout. Measured it with an ohmmeter and sure enough it is open circuit. Just ordered a new one from ebay for$13.33.
