I have a 2000 7.3L PSD with the 4R100 tranny and what to install a shift kit and was wondering what the best one would be? I do alot of towing and snowplowing so I need somwthing that can withstand the abuse.
You can contact Bt transmission, let him know exactly what you want, he should be able to set you up.. I personally have a transgo shift kit.. No complaints
Transgo is great if you already have a DP Tuner I would get a John woods VB so you don't have to retune if not a BTS. Personally I would do a transgo kit my self alot cheaper if you are good with a drill.
The tugger has more things to it, including some modifications that can only be done if the tranny has been removed from the vehicle. Several of us here have gotten the tugger and just done the mods to the main VB, accumulator VB, and checked the solenoid pack. We just leave the other pieces in the box.
Sonnax is your other option for the shift kit. Most of the E4OD guys prefer the sonnax, while we tent to use the Tugger. Either kit will work.
In my opinion the tugger is the best bang for your buck. I run the tugger in my truck and I am very happy with it. You can set it up the way you would like it to shift I have mine set up to shift pretty firm. When the truck shifts it is a fast firm shift and that is how I like it to shift but you can make it not as firm if you don't want it to shift hard.
my truck's 4R100 def recomends the Tugger II kit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
trans had 125K amd needed some firming up
trusted local trans shop did work for me
cost about $100 + labor=$350-400
