I like not having to remember to shut off another switch also!
Theoretically, could you run it through the dimmer and a switch? That way you could leave it up to the dimmer to control the light unless it is really bugging you and just flip the swith to turn the backlight off completely.
Hopefully there is a set that can be very dim. I am sure I will be getting with you when the time comes.
We can get you a set that won't blind you. The Isspro EV2 and Performax have an awesome system for dimming that I love. I have the Performax, and am like you about the dimming that is needed. I am happy to help you out, thanks

I know I am being hardheaded/**** about it.
Absoutly, you would just tap into the wire that comes from the headlight switch and land that onto another switch before going to your guage lights. The switches would be wired in series. I don't look at it as you beiing hardheaded or **** Geoff. Diffferent people like things different ways. Going over them here gives people different options.
The "proper" way to wire the gauges is thru the dimmer switch. You can dim them as you dim the main cluster. If you wanted to run a switch after that I see no reason why you could not, however it would defeat the purpous of having the gauges, if you cant see them...
