Engine rebuild question

Since my oil analysis hasn't been as good as I'd like, I'm just kinda throwing the idea around of building up another engine so that if this one does crap the bed I have a drop in ready. Well, I won't do this until it seems inevetible that I have to... Anyways, I was looking around on ePay and found this rebuild kit, and was wondering if it's about the right price or is it too much eBay Motors: 1999-2003 Ford Powerstroke Diesel 7.3L Engine Kit 7.3 (item 190263074707 end time Mar-28-09 12:39:54 PDT) Would I be better off piecing one together, or going through one of our sponsors or?? Also, if I were to rebuild a 7.3, anyone got any good pointers? I've rebuilt a chebby 350, Ford 390, and both ran like a top, so I know what I'm doing. But are there any specifics I should know about, or maybe a different cam I should use or?? Thanks for the replies!

From: Rio Rico, AZ.
Use the stock cam.
People have experimented with different grinds and it made it worse.
Other than that, a diesel engine is the same as a gasser inside, except everything is a lot more robust.
