The HX50 and H2E are very similar turbos (I have one of each on the bench). Neither are bolt up with out the use of a pre-made or fabricated mounting kit including up-pipes, collector, pedestal, oil lines, down pipe, air filter tubing, and turbo outlet. A mounting kit and turbo new as a set runs about $2500. A new turbo is in the $600-800 range.
Also if you have a stock injectors you will never have enough fuel to drive the turbo and it would not be workable.
Quite the memory on you OS.... I'm waiting on a responce from Tuff Country. I found that the front axle pivot bracket? Think thats what it is called is ripping. Hopefully they send me a new one for free then I'll have the alignment done. I dont dare drive it. I've only had the truck a month and every time I drive it something breaks. I'm down $1500 so far. So I've been driving the durango. How loud is your 6" straight pipe? Tj, I found a new HX50 for $150. Should I buy it and hold onto it until I can get the rest of the pieces?
I'm real good at memory stuff, part of what I used to do when I was in the military. Any rate my 6" straight pipe is not as loud as youd think. I was recently told by one of my neighbors that I had the quietest diesel around,... they meant it as a compliment I took it as an insult. The guy across the street had a dodge w/ an aftermarket 4" on a construction truck. The other guy down the street has a dodge too and he works for ATS so his truck is seriously modified w/ a single 6" stack. Mine has such a low tone it can give you a headache on a long trip. I run a 3" dp to 3 inches of 4" to attach my dead cat (required around here, so I gutted it so it would look good for the state. So now I looking at changing it back to stacks and a different pipe configuration for a better tone.

Thanks guys
If its truly a new turbo that is a steal. Does it come with both intake and exhaust housings? If so hopefully the exhaust housing is a 17 or 19 cm. The 22 cm is a little big unless you have lots and lots and lots of fuel and if you have that kind of fuel you need a bigger charger.
If you have plans for more power in the future then buy it but I must remember this one thing. The HX50 doesn't bolt up perfectly to the H2E mounting kit so to mount a HX is complete custom fabrication as I don't beleive any one makes a kit. The HX has a tight scroll on the exhaust housing so it sits too low in the valley when mounted to H2E kits.
You pretty much summed it up TJ. What the heck are you doing up at dang near 4 in the morning???!
The HX50 is a very tight scroll compared to the H2E. From what I hear, the 50 can out perform the H2E on the bigger appplications. However, in our cases, it would be difficult to see continous maximum potential.
I used half a mounting kit for the H2E and the rest I fabbed up myself (upipes and base mount). If I had to do it again I would elongate the up-pipes and collector mount so it sits higher in the valley. Another thing you'd have to think about is your downpipe. Depending on what exhaust housing you have, you are going to do that as well and fit it between the firewall and upipes.
HX50's are cheap because they are considered a non-peformance charger. Mainly associated with the older L10 and newer M11 Cummys. I picked up a new 19cm out of Texas for $300.

I started a new part time job doing some data entry stuff to earn some "get out of debt" money on Sunday mornings before Church and few evenings. I took a break and got me some FTE!
