Well thanks guys. My gimp *** got out there today and fixed it for now. The screws keep backing out within a few throws of the shifter lever though. Is it ok to do as posted above and put some loc tite on the screws?
I can't see why not - some 242 couldn't hurt. Just be sure you can get them back out 'cuz you're going to need the $5. worth of bushings.
Is that why there loosening back out all the time cause of the bushing? I did push the top one back up where is the other one?
About 10 - 12" lower on the shift mechanism. Amazingly, they may still be using the same 2 bushings on column shifting vehicles. I know the dealer toldme that they replace 'em all the time on Explorers and Expeditions, so they should have them on the shelf.
this is common on all f, e super dutys , and town car marquis crowns they are a pos potmetal and they break .i have both styles in stock and the bushings and the gold screws, i work at a ford l and m dealer in parts

The bushings are plastic in my case ('94 150 with tilt)
marked, they are all plastic bushings ,when i said pot metal i was talking about the shaft
iirc there are 5 or 6 different column set ups in the manual depending on the app and w/wo air bag etc. NONE of which has a good illustration, so I didn't know they'd all be the same bushing. Good to keep in mind tho.
