I have noticed that my truck at the last few mornig startups has been sluggish. New batteries may be in my future. Just wondering if the Optima was worth the price? I like the fact that it is a dry cell, it seems to me it would be less corrosion. If anyone has had good or bad experience info would be appreciated.

i have the yellow tops on my truck. we like to tailgate at ballgames, concerts, etc, and crank the tunes for hours. after needing a jumpstart once, i decided to get the optimas (needed batteries anyway). i love them. no complaints. i have read others say that they are now being made in mexico, so i don't know if the quality is the same or not, or if mine (1 1/2 yrs old were made here or there). they are a little smaller, so it allows for relocating one to the opposite side to accomodate custom tubing for compound turbos, or whatnot. they are pricey though, i got mine for about 350 bucks total. i'm happy with them though.
Optimas are overpriced, and unless you're offroading at extreme angles there is no reason to spend that kind of money. I would get a set of Interstate MTP-65 batteries, they are the best in my opinion. I picked up a set at a local John Deere dealership for $87 each.
I've never had a red top last longer than 2 years and with the demands from the 6.0L, there's no way I would trust them. Yellow tops yes, but no way on the red tops IMO.

Red top going 3 yrs and still holding charge. Yellow tops I think can't handle it. There was someone on here that said something about the yellowtops not handling the demands of a 6.0.

From my research, this is one of the best combination of value / durability.

i'm not disagreeing, since I figure I bought mine based on the looks, the marketing ploys, but can you explain? specifically how the 6.0 is more demanding, than say, my 7.3? again, not arguing, just need more details. i know my yellow tops can handle the substantial stereo needs, and have more than enough cold cranking amps for me. in single digit temps, she spins over like a top. now they may crap out on me, who knows, but so far so good. had I done some more research, I may not have bought them, but I've been pleased. like i said, I bought the yellow tops specifically for the deep discharge properties. often I use the headlights as worklights when I'm working late, and as mentioned, I can crank the stereo for 5 hours, and know I wont have to periodically crank the truck to keep them charged.
I went with Red Tops a couple of weeks in my 6.0 a couple of weeks ago. Way to early to tell longevity but the Red Top that's been in my 79 F250 for 3 years will crank the 400 over in that on -0 days after the truck has sat for weeks on end. Hopefully the ones I put in the diesel are as good.
Don't forget the warranty part of the Optimas, I believe it's 3 years exchange and 3 years after that is pro-rated. I'm not sure but I don't think that any other batteries have that kind of waranty.

It's better then that, it's 4 yrs.

The way I heard it, it has to do with the cranking. Remember, this is what I heard from somebody, the only experiance that I have with yellowtops is that Bean uses them for his destroked 02.
I have one yellow top in my camper, been using it the last 2 years. It'll last the entire weekend. The Interstate that came with it gave out in a year and a half.
Lee, am on year number nine on my yellow top in the camper. This is one of the reasons I installed yellow tops in the 6.0L and they have no trouble starting that diesel at -30F.
I went to Pepboys and got Bosch Group 65 batteries that are rated the same as Optima minus deep cycle. Works fine and I pump some SERIOUS audio power through the truck. Oh and they cost me 1/3 of the price on Optimas
