This is off the topic here, but you know what really bothers me(rhetorical of course)? Is when you have a 2.00 part and shipping is 15.00. I hate that crap. Talk about a racket.

No racket is some damn USB A to USB B cables I needed to order for work. They were 0.19 each and shipping was $85.00.
I called the company up and told them they were a bunch of retards and Best Buy would now get my order.
OK....Storm you find me a Pep Boys in ND!!! Not gonna happen.
I would submit that while there may be better batteries available on the general market, When one is not in a major city, WalMart simply cannot be beat. Available in just about any town over 5000 population, and usually come with at least a 1-2 year free replacement warranty.
Are WalMart batteries the best battery one can buy? Probably not. But what good is "the best" when one cannot source it without spending $200 (or more) on shipping? And given that many WalMart SuperCenters are open 24/7, there are many times when I'll give up some quality to be able to get ANYTHING back into the truck to get it out of a problem area.
Just make sure you buy them both (i.e. both batteries).

Good point, very good point. While I agree with
everything that you have said, thankfully I have never been put into a situation where that has been needed to have been done. I cannot afford(not exactly monetary, but time and ability) to have to be put into that position especially. Before I got to a long distance horseshow, I go thru a(what I think of anyway) nitty gritty inspection of everything and if anything looks like it's on the way out, I go get a new one. Thinks happen of course, but I catch the big things. Not doable in all circumstances, but it does catch things 98% of the time.
I actually bought a set of Walmart batteries before getting Interstates, they didn't fit right. The vent caps were in a different location and the stock battery cover on the driver side wouldn't clip down all the way.
I looked at the Optima bats in the local Lordco store and they are around $500 CDN. A little steep in the price. Have to check Costco when next in the big smoke.
We used to stock Interstate batteries, we DO NOT stock them anylonger, nor would I recommend them. I wouldnt even put them in my own truck, and we get them cheaper than most. I would say that for every 10 good batteries we would have 2-3 that were junk. And these batts were rotated weekly by the Interstate truck. There quality has gone downhill seriuosly in the last 3 years. Just my opinion. They would also try to weasel their way out of any warranty they could.
Sears has a gell battery I think it may be made by the Optima folks. It was cheaper at Sears than the optima. I like the gell because its better in cold weather than a wet battery. Same cranking amps at -40'F as +40'F.
