I just pulled out my np435 today. One of the nice things about this trans being in a f350 dually is that you can pick it up and remove it from inside the cab. Look in my garage if you want to see what 135lbs of cast iron looks like. These tranies can't be raced but they sure as hell can be worked. Mine was in a 8'x12' 3m cubed, thats 4.5 cubic yards dump truck with a dana/chelsea pto.
my friend has an NP435 in his 79 F100 with a 300-6 and I have an NP435
in my 77 highboy with a 351m. my question is how many different shift
levers(aka sticks) did they use on each transmission? His stick is the exact
same shape as mine but it has maybe 6 inches on mine before the ****.
Also, he has a '70 F100 4x4 with a 360 in it, it has 4x4 to the passengers
crotch, what can it be?
There's some mistakes in it.
Same mistakes you'll find on other websites. LOL :)
I don't know who copied who or where the original misinformation came
from but for the most part, it's excellent information. :)
So my truck should have an np435 if its still factory. Can anyone comment on the different shifters though? He's pulled his engine and tranny more than enough to know its an np435 and I know mines the same.
I got question, would the 79 f100 6 clylinder np435 still fit 88' 302 if I just change the bellhousing? What's the transmission maximum output power? It's for 4x4.

I have one of the NP trans in my yard but it is attached to a transfer case can I pull them apart and then put it into a 2 wheel drive truck? Do I get a driveshaft with splines and a u_joint in front end or can I somehow get a yoke on there where the shaft is now?
So mine is a 4speed overdrive trans but the shift linkage is side mounted, it’s in a 1978 Econoline 150 behind a 300 straight 6. So what transmission is that??
Novak says the T-18 switched to over-and-down reverse in 1979 (marked with part number starting 13-01), though my late '78 has that. I did find somewhere else that said they put the over and down version into trucks earlier, but I can't remember where.
IIRC, the T18, T19 and NP435 all used the same bolt pattern to mount them to the bellhousing, but don't quote me on that.
I have a 78' f-150 with the same tranny. my understanding is that it is an "RUG-3000" transmission it is actually a 3 speed with overdrive in the 4th position.

It's a 4 speed OD trans.
A 3 speed + OD is a different animal and used a Warner 3 speed with an cable or electrically shifted OD unit bolted to tail of the trans.
In the SROD or SMOD or TSOD we are talking about, 3rd gear becomes the OD 4th, while the original 4th becomes the 1:1 third gear. The shift levers are switched to keep the same H pattern as the standard performance 4 speed on which these are based.
Never heard "RUG 3000" but they do have the RUG designation. This guy calls them 3 speed OD and he ought to know better, but he gives the RUG info on the OD transmissions:
