pyrometer

im buying a pyrometer.. How high should the needle be able to read? ive seen some that read up to 2400*F and 1500*F... How high should my pyro be able to read for my truck?

1250F is the maximum sustained temp you want to see, at 2400F the tops of the pistons have melted.

what Jim said. High enough to measure the highest usuable temp but not so high the gauge becomes harder to read. 1500 would be a good. Mine reads to 1600
