Service quote from HELL
Last time I had my 03 F250 6.0 seriviced the dealership told me I had a "major fluid leak" at the bed plate and crank sensor. I did not even engage them because my truck was not obviously leaking anything. Besides I had no idea what the hell they were trying to sell me. So just last week I noticed that my truck was intermittedly blowing a little more blue smoke from tail pipe. I figured it was the EGR valve but did not have time to diagnose it myself. I dropped it off at dealership and asked them to check EGR valve. Here is the service quote I got.
1) EGR valve sticking. $400 dollars to replace
2) Oil leak at bedplate and crank sensor. $3,900 to fix (requires removing engine)
3) 3 fuel inejectors failing. $1,655 to replace all
4) Bad fuel pressure regulator. $150 to replace.
Grand total $6,135
Needless to say I told them to not touch a thing. Now keep in mind the truck has never leaked anything on the ground and I just the other day checked the under carriage and it was clean as a whistle. Only symptom was occasional smoking from exhaust.
How p*ssed off would you be?

Either you book down and figure out if what there telling you is correct or not, or take it to a diesel shop for an evaluation. I don't know about the leak but everything else is doable by yourself if you have the mechanical ability to do so. That is if anything they told you is correct!
In the good old days when all gas stations were pretty much full service, some of the more unscrupold owners would carry a squirt can in the pocket and when puting the gas in and the driver wasn't watching, he would bend down and squirt a little brake fluid on the inside of a tire. Then he would then tell the car owner the care was about to kill them and would get a brake job out of the deal. You never had a problem until you had it serviced? Take your truck to a reputable mechanic and get another quote. Ask him while he's at it to check if anything looks like its been messed with. Then file a complaint with the BBB! I hope it works out for you!

Runs same as always except for the occasional smoking. I will replace the EGR valve myself for 1/4 of what they wanted to do it. I have also decided that I will start servicing it myself as well. The only way it will ever see the insde of the dealership again is on the back of a flat bed tow truck.
Dealers seem expensive to me period. My sister was quoted like $750 for a alternator and it took 2 hours with a grocery store handyman tool kit. Alt cost like $60... I will be doing all I can with the help of these forums

.There's plenty of v10 vs 6.0 PSD threads on here. Don't need another
.My thoughts find another dealership.
No no ur mistaken what you heard sounded like a jet air plane and looked vaguely like a big truck it was a blur but hell like you pay any attention to what passes now that you drive a v10.... Hell you gotta watch for those dang gas stations....
To remain on topic, carry your ride on over to another dealer or a reputable shop and ask them about the blue smoke and EGR. I feel pretty confident you will hear a different story.
At least I HOPE you will get a different story, less doom and gloom.
Let us know what you find out please....

How many miles on your truck?
and when the second opinion from a reputable repair shop or another dealer says there is nothing wrong with your truck, send both quotes to the better business bureau, ford and the dealership owner.
