I need some information about the intercooler piping boots. I know there are four of them. Are they all the same? Or are they different at each joint? Also, can anyone tell me the part #'s for these fairly quickly?
I'm leaving next Thursday for a 2000 mile round trip towing a very heavy gooseneck. I've never towed this heavy before, and I don't really know the condition of the boots and I'd like to have some spares. Just in case I blow one out in the middle of the desert in the middle of the night somewhere.
OK, more information. I was apparently wrong about there being 4 boots. It appears from looking at it, there is a short, blue boot from the turbo to the metal hot side pipe, and a longer blue boot with two metal rings in it from the metal hot side pipe to the intercooler. The cold side pipe is plastic and attached directly to the intercooler and intake elbow with clamps.
I'd kind of like to have extra clamps and those two boots before I leave. I found the following part numbers in a TSB (attached in image below), but I'm not sure what ones are right for my truck. My truck is a 2004 and according to the Oasis, was produced 15-Apr-2004.
I have an '04 Excursion with the 6.0 and a build date of 05/04. I replaced both my boots with part #'s 6c3z 6c640 c for the upper and 6c3z-6c640-b for the lower. They both fit perfectly.
They are $64.84 at my dealer for the turbo to ic piping ... Short 45* bend and about $60 for the rest of the 3 .... I bought mine and haven reasearched to find a cheaper alternative for my lower boots yet
