Please forgive me if this is a stupid question but why does the RiffRaff intercooler boot kit come with six boots? I know there is a boot on each end of the plenums (hot and cold sides) but where do the other two small ones go? I have looked at several other manufactures and they only sell in groups of four.
There are 2 plenum boots, 2 upper manifold boots, and then the 2 lower intercooler boots. We have no idea why companies try to only sell 4 and call it complete kit. If you have any questions feel free to give us a call as well.
Thank you RiffRaff! I was not aware of the two small boots on the intake manifold plenums. I wish I had the funds to install the plenum inserts also.....They would make a nice addition to the book kit. Take care!
Thank you AllaboutMPG! The video is a huge help and after watching it I'm sure I can handle the job. I can't wait for some warmer weather so I can do the boots and a new intake/filter. I've poored a bunch of money into my 7.3 but I enjoy working on it and most fixes have resulted in better performance and mpg's. Labor of love I guess. Thanks again!
it can be tricky getting them both on at the same time i found putting one boot on the plenum and one on the manifold was easier and make sure both clamps are already where they should be,2 per side, and while you are in there check for wear on the passenger side fuel line where it goes through the clip
Save some coin until spring so you can add the plenum inserts and upgrade the lower clamps on the spider. Do it all at the same time so you won't have to do it twice.

I replaced all 6 boots, installed 2 plenum inserts and replaced all 12 clamps all from RiffRaff and I could not be happier with the results.
You can only see the top two boots and clamps from this picture, but they not only made the truck run great, but look great too.
