Exterior Paint Graphic Ideas
My 95 F-150 is in the process of being painted. I'm having sleepless nights trying to think and FIND different types of graphics for the exterior. The truck is white and I would like to keep the top half factory. Reason being I don't want to paint in the door jambs. It's a lot easier to do any custom painting anywhere below the door handles. There is the traditional Ford 2-tone where the center strip along the side is painted a contrasting color. I'm not crazy about that though. Anyone know of a good looking graphic(ways of taping off for paint) that runs the length of the truck along the side? Or, any good sites I can visit? I've been searching the net but have not had any luck yet. I was thinking about painting the back half of the truck and running the graphic into the cab area, maybe as far as the doors. Any thoughts?

Check out the paint schemes in the gallery on this web site. Normally painting the door jams is not hard at all and since you are considering paint anyway.......
The door panels remove easy, the window assembly comes out easy, and the additional masking is worth the small investment.

I don't know how big of graphics you want but have you thought about vinyl? They have come out with some really cool ones lately and alot better quality than a few years ago.The best thing is you can take them off if you decide you want something different.Good luck.

One thing that i saw in Idaho last month looked pretty sweet. The guy had a white 99 F350, and to help protect the rocker panels, he took red paint and painted a 4" stripe right at the bottom. Above the stripe he splashed it up on the truck to look like he went through a red puddle.
Believe me, i thought it was crazy when i first heard about it, but it looked pretty cool.

I had a white corvette that had previously had major body mods. When I repainted it, I laid a flaming jigsaw puzzle over the front have with pieces falling off the sides.
Mask off the top of your truck, then using very thin tape you create the spaces between the puzzle pieces. Then mask off a missing piece or two and then do your graphics (flames, scallops, whatever). You can paint pieces to match and lay on the ground at a show as if they just fell off.
It's not a lot of extra work, but gives your paint a real wild twist.
Sorry, but I don't have any picture on-line.

I like the ideas so far. I have hit every book store in town. I got a good tip from someone about types of magazines to look at. This guy says find surfing magazines for ideas. Kind of hard to do in Canada but sure enough he was right. I located some really great ideas and now I'm playing in the booth with them making sample test panels. After many months of trying to find a color I found one the other day I can live with. It's called flaming orange pearl coat. Not to dark, not to light and looks good with white. And wouldn't you know it, it's the most expensive factory production color PPG makes at $65 a pint!!! With my new moto "its about the truck not money" I am off to buy paint. Thanks for all the great feedback.
