I know this is not a truck, but I have a rebuilt 390 .040 over, 9.5 comp., 260/270 dur. .458/.484 lift, S-code 390 intake, 750 Edelbrock and headers thats gonna be going in a 67 galaxie fastback. Can anyone pull up some estimates on hp and torque numbers for this? I'm hoping it will be a better performer than my factory 390 4v that's in there currently.
Erik, do you know the part number of the pistons used to build the engine you are going to use ? There is a HUGE problem in the rebuilding industry, maybe more of a dirty little secret than a problem, of almost every FE gets smogger truck pistons when it gets rebuilt. The problem is worse if your engine builder isn't doing at least an FE a week, 'cause they don't know what to look for. Can you tell us whacha got ? DinosaurFan
i'll have to check when it's not pouring down rain ( don't worry the motor is covered with rags under the hood) I know that they are hypeurtectic pistons.

It's been pouring rain everyday since the 8th?????
I have to agree with Barry here... If it truely a 9.5 to 1 CR motor...and stock heads.. that lift on the cam is at best **** poor !! the info you gave is vary Vague...considering , head gasket thickness, approx. CR.. FE heads by design are **** poor on the exhaust side no way around that other than porting...
The bottom line is for any builder worth his salt.. Is to know the Dynamic and static CR.. along with quench area.. haed gasket thickness. for said build.. (adjustable) with build for CR and quenc area.. Head flow, Intake flow, and carb requirements..Per CI, RPM desired... then pick a cam to match those specs.. If anyone of those are missing from the equation..you could have a Turd..Or by luck a real runner!! and that goes for header size also...Depending on if your looking for a little more bottom end or have it all on the big end..
Header primary Dia. Primary tube length, and collector length and diameter all play in the toatl package ! Sorry about writing a book ..But there 's alot more to understand than listening to the local Parts house guy..
Yep if my fillings ain't falling out the cam is too small. Just me but trying to focus your eyes on the stoplight while your shaking just sounds really cool to me. Sure Barry's work has caused some people to get tickets so that's a testament to his work. The look of the Sherman Tank Engine sounds cool to me but i have always been into overkill. Lifting the hood and seeing nothing but motor is really appealing to me. Guessing in the neighborhood of 550-600 lift seems to go well with alot of people on here. JMO
