I bought some a t NAPA a few years ago that, I bought for my tractor they work awesome for everything else they are 2 gauge and I think 25' long theyre pricy though $100+, but heavy enough to start anything and the length is often a plus too.

I make my own, 15'. Buy some good clamps and welding cable. 2gauge should be all you need. But I like to overbuild everything and use 2/0 for mine.

Another vote for 25' - you can pull over in front of someone, back up to a couple feet off their bumper and run your jumper cables back from the front of your truck. Or pull up behind and run forward to their car. No pulling off beside on the grass and no turning around on the side of the interstate.

on the chart i have- 2 gauge is good for 150 amps up to 40'. at 50' you gotta jump to 1/0 gauge. of course bigger is better, but if you are on a budget- 2 gauge will work.

i like dirk's idea of having the plug-in's front AND rear!

The ones I have actually came from wally world about 10 years ago. They have been good and served me well. 25' long 2 gauge. The clamps are just getting to where they need to be replaced, mainly cause I have left them in the bed of my truck and they are rusted pretty bad.

Both ends of the booster cables:

front connector in the grille:

And the rear connector in the box:

They are on my '87 F350 still, once the "new" '97 is reliable the whole setup will move.
I got the clamp ends at Princess Auto, similar store to harbour Freight in the US. Napa and other places sell the Anderson connectors. I used the Grey ones, but you can safely use the Blue ones which arew one size smaller.

I also have a 12' extension that I use to power and charge the battery on my dumptrailer. My Tractor and off-road truck, as well as my battery charger have the same connectors. Don't evn have to pop the hood to boost or charge and always a good connection.

Shoot last winter I left my lights on and drained my batteries. all the rest of the guys onthe job had chevy vans. grabbed some scrap #2 and rigged it up to one van and that wasn't enough so we pulled another around and hooked it to the other battery and it still took forever to jump. I guess they have small alt and the batts were only 600cca

all that to say now I carry two sets of cables. just in case

I've got a set from napa, belive 1/0 x 10' (heaviest they had) and can't complain. Started dead tractors and busses in cold weather never heated up the cables. Defiantely spend the extra from good heavy wire. Esp if building extra long ones
