Do an Advanced Search on this forum, and "visor", many threads on the subject. Not a simple answer, other than no one makes new steel ones that will fit; steel ones for other vehicles can be modified, and steel ones can be found on eBay that can be made to work. Julie and others on here have them. Fibreglas appears to be a poor solution.
The steel ones are all one piece and need to be cut anyway to fit. I'm no tsure fiberglas would have the ability to withstand the aerodynamics or vibration - especially where it's anchored. Most of the ones yo usee on the Fords are Fulton Sun Screen, or Fulton Deluxe Sun Screens.
You will see them at th ecar swap meets but they are getting pretty pricy - like $400-$500 now for a standard and up to $500+ for a Deluxe (the Deluxe Screen was flat as opposed to chevron shaped and looks much better on a flat windshield truck - mine is a Fulton Deluxe off a 42 Plymouth).
Anyway, here's a link on visors. If you need any puctures other than whats there - mountings, the different types, etc. Let me know:
Food for thought: you are probably going to have to cut 6 inches out of the center of it to get it to fit on an F1. Most of the Fultons are adjustable and come in pieces (the ones that have that center panel). And, you'll have to make a center bracket as most of these used to mount on split windscreens - it's not hard to make one.
Thanks Julie' Nice truck !! Are you going to paint it ? What color.
Yeah if I live that long. Now that it's all one color and not so ugly, and I'm driving it daily, the obsession to get it painted and get the interior finished has severely mellowed!
It will eventually be the same color as the visor (53 Olds Royal Marine) with a spot (drop rail, stake pickets, tire carrier, grille) of white trim.
By the way, the visor in the link below is the same as mine and has a center support that can be used on the F-Series. A $500 price while alot, is not unreasonable today for a visor of this quality- almost new - is a good deal - you won't see another one like this.
But it's gonna go for alot more. I'll bet it goes for $550 - $600! If you want to win it, I'd put a bid of about $575 on it about 5 seconds before the auction ends - someone else will for sure do that. highest bid wins, but it's only $10 over the last bid! so you can bid high and still only pay the next $10s higher than the guy you beat.
I'll be watching!
I'll be more than happy to help you math mounting, bracket placement, center support and fit if you win. GOOD LUCK
WOOOHOOOOO !!!!! I got it Julie. Thanks for the tip. How much will i need to trim and were ? Your advice will be needed for sure. PAYED 569.00 shipping and all .

Well that's about swap meet price for that visor and a real good deal for one that's NOS.
Lets wait until you get it then I'll write you up an install paper following how I did mine with measurements and do's and don'ts.
As I recall it was about 6 inches, but you are going to put your mounting brackets on then mount each half to see how much they overlap and mark them to cut. Finding the exact location for those brackets was a real trial and error for me, but I have at least 12 close up pictures of mine to show you.
Write to me at babbiebuddie@***.net when you get it and we can write that up and post it here for all to see!
