I don't think so, cause I've had this lag longer than the brake issues I'm having. Good brain storming though. I'm just hoping it's nothing serious and it is normal to have some lag on a stock truck.
Stockers will typically have some lag, but with warm engine it should be well on the way in 3 seconds. I don't think mine ever spun wheels enough to have to use the mirror to tell, at least not stock, but it would generally take off, maybe not fast, but it would get moving. Now if it really cold and engine not warmed up, it is still sluggish.
I can get it to spin the wheels after it gets going if I keep on it. I'm not trying to do that, I'm just trying to figure out why the lag time. Now when it's cold...heck yeah it doesn't want to move very good at all, but that's a given. Maybe it's just because it's a stock truck and it's not made to take off like a sports car.
A sticking or dragging brake will cause similar issues. A slipping TC will also cause that. Check you tranny fluid and you might consider changing the fluid.
is it 3 sec on the clock or you think 3 sec. a lag on the truck is kinda of normal, whe i had big injectors and big turbo if i slap it from the dead stop first was nothing than overwelming black cloud would leave my stacks than whole hell would brake loose hahaha.
pull off your intake tube and just look on the turbine , if it has rounded edges of the fins your turbo might be shot thus not giving you enough boost , you turbo might be shot period, when you grab the bolt thats holding the impeller-turbine try to move it around pull, push , move it sideways and spinn it, it should have very minimal play in the shaft and should spin freely. if you not sure if you turbo is ok , make pix and post it on the forum and we tell you .
do you have any exhaust smell inside? like it was mentioned check turbo up pipes for lack residue bu the turbo where 2 of them meet. you have two gaskets there which tend to leak , bleading your boost..
hope this helps.
I will check the tranny fluid. I'm planning some servicing anyway so I may just go ahead and service the tranny as well.
I will look at the intake and see what it looks like in their. And I will post pics if I'm not sure. No exhaust smell in the cab. But yes it's stock and I think they may be just the reason.
I still have a stock setting on my truck and I do use it during warm up periods. When I am in stock setting, I am all stock except for intake and exhaust. It don't take 3 seconds to get moving, even with 35" tires on it. That being said, it has been a long time since I have driven a completely stock, intake and exhaust included, but the engine revving and not moving the truck don't sound just right, but Kris may be right, I may be over analyzing the whole thing.
I dunno about stock but I do know that I punched mine in anger today leaving the doctor's office in Willis, and I boiled the tires coming out of the parking lot. Even surprised myself. Haven't smelled burning rubber in a looong time.
good to know about the rear end alignment, cause my dually keeps smoking all 4 tires, so is thats an indication that my rear is in correct alignment? ROTFLMAO.... good one Scott.
