although weak as it sounds, Its not expensive to turn it into a 400 monster...

I sure love these engines, you can really make them throw out the torque with a few fairly simple mods and they can take a beating too.

Well I think a good cam and timing chain are the best place to start. Personally I really like the Comp XE256. Headers, intake, and a good carb. Also I must say i'm a huge fan of the DUI Distributor. I recently installed one and I'm very happy with it. These are some of the easier mods to do. Of course you can get much deeper and bump compression, etc. I had to build on a budget however and added one thing at a time. If a person had to start with one thing, I would do the cam first as it affects the rest of the build down the line.

a great mod would also be turning it into a 400 by simply changing the pistons and crank...

If you go to the 400 crank and pistons do you have to grind clearance for the crank like you do for a 383 chevy? Thanks

no, the 351m and 400 are the same block. no grinding needed! everything should drop in perfect, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how easy it can be.

i also heard that the summit 5201 cam is a good choice. i was planning on buying one myself, but i'm broke (not hollywood broke, i mean broke broke)
