hey all,the bad news ball dropped yesterday.
no new work, and way too many bidders low-balling on the few bids out there means a massive downsizing in the construction industry.
as of 9 am yesterday i am currently unemployed.
all i needed was 18 more months and i could have retired and collected my union pension.
I know the feeling Tom. I was out of work for 13 months finally got a job and was laid off in Feb to be called back in April, I got called in April only to be told that it looks like I will not be called back at all. You will bounce back in no time Tom!!

What I would like to know is how do you survive that long without going completely broke?

my house is almost paid off. i only have 6 payments left on it.
so i will collect unemployment as long as i can, then if i can't find anything, i can take an equity loan against the house. the thing that sucks is that at 54 i wanted to be completely debt free, not signing a second mortgage.
oh well. i guess the kids ain't gonna get any inheritance from me now.
